January 19, 2010 on the feast of Theophany

The Festival of Borsch took place in Cherkasy region Khrystynivka!

Epiphany, or Feast of Theophany, celebrated January 19, but January 18 established a strict fast, so holiday-tasting borsch is gathered about 1000 participants and spectators.

Also, by tradition, which existed in other Christian peoples before the adoption of Christianity in Kyivan Rus', on this day at subzero temperature in holy water ice-hole throw dipped great and small: grandfathers, the girls and children!

Just here in Hrystynivka, the first time in Ukraine held a joint blessing healing waters and participants winter swim Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Kiev and Moscow Patriarchate!

Although winter this year, we indulged surprisingly deep snow and subzero temperatures to -18 C, organizers of the Festival borsch ™ note that in this day no one froze, for convenience and comfort of the event provide a warm partner of the festival company "UFO". Heaters UFO ® is not the first time supported the comfort of our activities. Their ability to effectively warm even on the street makes them indispensable for a comfortable and unforgettable holiday.

Warmed the soul popular folk-ethnographic  chorus "Ghomin" with its songs, which also took part in the festivities organized Khrystynivka City Council.

Borsch recipes for this event has already declassified and will soon appear on our site...

Participation in the cooking show took two commands – combined team of the City Council and the State Administration and a team of cultural workers and residents.  With the advantage of a few votes won a delicious Borsch by the team "city council”. It is interesting that this time both teams assisted by representatives of the restaurant "Karasi (Crucians)", headed by well-known local businessman and showman Olexa Pansky.

By tradition, the show had lead MC Yuras` (Yuras` Krasyuk, founder of TM "The Festival of Borsch") - the announcer on festivals of "Red Ruth", "Tavria Games", Melorama + on Inter channel. 

On materials of the festival and the feast of Epiphany were shot a story for a movie.

An additional highlight was that fact the partner of the Festival TM "Khortyсya" in addition to the prize fund gave participants events special Cossack recipe - this very "sturdy" product flavored soup, that warms up in frosty weather, and certainly warmed smiles of those present.

And experts say the secret recipe that adding a small amount of alcohol in the first course - soup or borsch, makes the water softer in taste and, more importantly, adds a nice shade of the famous dish of the Ukrainians.
